- Entry is open to all original bands and musicians regardless of gender, race or culture. Entries are restricted to original acts not currently signed to a major record label. Distribution deals are okay.
- Heat winners of previous NBT contests are eligible but must submit new material with their entry.
- A separate entry must be completed for each group or solo act. One entry only per act.
- No refunds will be given for withdrawal of entry and the entry fee is non-recoupable. Material submitted will not be returned.
- The recorded entries will be considered by an expert industry panel for performance in a heat.
- If chosen to perform at a heat, the act must;
- Perform 20 minutes of live original music; provide their own instruments and accessories as required.
- Attend sound check and perform at the designated time
- PA, lights and sound engineers are supplied at all metropolitan gigs. However these facilities may not always be supplied for regional heats. Acts may use their own FOH and monitor operators if desired.
- All NBT gigs are smoke free and no performers may smoke onstage, in the venue or backstage. All NBT gigs are drug-free - performers and punters must take this seriously.
- All performances must be original material and live. Use of backing tapes (ie karaoke style) will result in disqualification. Sequencers and computer technology is allowed.
- Heat and State winners will be selected by a panel of industry experts chosen by NBT organisers.
- The material recorded for inclusion on the NBT compilation CD must not compromise NBT obligations to the principal sponsors - please no smoking or drug references.
- While individual recordings remain copyright of the artist/s, copyright of the NBT compilation CD remains with NBT WA Music Inc. NBT WA Music Inc reserves to the right to use the songs recorded for the project in any way or context to further the goals of NBT.
- NBT WA Music Inc reserves the right to use all material provided by the artist or produced through the project (including photos, interviews, and videos) for promotional activities.
- By signing the entry form, each contestant agrees to accept the terms and conditions of The Next Big Thing WA 2007.
